The Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013 came into effect from December 2nd , 2013. It provides for comprehensive reforms to the criminal justice system by strengthening the safeguards for vulnerable witnesses including children, women and persons with disabilities during investigations, trials and other stages of prosecution. The major offences provisions under this law are Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

What Is The Punishment For Pocso

Section 6 of the POCSO Act lays down that whoever commits aggravated penetrative sexual assault shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than 20 years, but which may extend to imprisonment for life, which shall mean imprisonment for the remainder of the natural life of that person.

Is Pocso Act Bailable

There is no provision for bail in the POCSO Act 2019. It proves that offenses under the Act are non-bailable.
